ScfC was created in 2005 in the United Kingdom by Iestyn Thomas and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) charity in the United States two years later. ScfC has a two part mission:
- To encourage young Americans to lead healthy, active lifestyles by providing a format that can be easily initiated and sustained
- To encourage global citizenship by providing a familiar and effective way for young people to help other children much less fortunate than themselves.
Schoolchildren for Children is a 501(c)3 charity FEIN 20-8394751. No funds raised by students are used for administrative expenses. Administrative costs are covered by donations from individual patrons and partly from membership investments.
To accomplish this mission ScfC uses fitness fundraisers that school volunteers can ad-minister. Funds go to support nine programs related to education, health, hygiene, personal development, and sports in four countries: Kenya, Tanzania, China, and Nepal.
